Arrive and transfer to your hotel in Jerusalem. En route stop for Shehehayanu blessing at Rappaport sculpture "Scrolls of Fire," and in the tradition of your ancestors enter Jerusalem for the first time on foot (D): JERUSALEM
Tues, Day 3
Visit Mt. Scopus and enjoy a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Continue for a special reception by the Vice President of Hebrew University. Old City tour includes the Jewish Quarter, Herodian Mansions, Cardo, Zion Gate and Western Wall. Visit the Siebenberg House, the site of a Palace from the 2nd Temple Period, and continue to Hadassah Hospital which houses the famous Chagall windows. Optional tree planting ceremony. Visit Bethlehem and Rachel's Tomb (B, D): JERUSALEM
Wed, Day 4
Participate in an authentic archaeological dig, under the direction of professional archaeologists. Continue to the Holyland model of Jerusalem during the period of the Second Temple, then to the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed, the JFK Memorial and the Knesset. This evening a rehearsal with the Rabbi for Massada B'nai Mitzvah service (B, D): JERUSALEM
Thur, Day 5
Early departure today for your drive to Massada for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah service at dawn in the ancient synagogue. Ascend the summit by cable car for this lifetime experience as each B'nai Mitzvah is called to the Torah individually to symbolically fulfill the prophecy of the return of the Jewish people to Israel. A kiddush follows the service, then a tour of the excavation. Lunch and swim at the Dead Sea. Continue to Mearat Hakemach, the Flour Caves and then a float on the Dead Sea. Climb the waterfall of Ein Gedi oasis in the middle of the desert before returning to Jerusalem via Qumran. This evening celebrate with a lavish Bar/Bat Mitzvah banquet and party (B, L, D): JERUSALEM
Fri, Day 6
Early morning service at Yad Vashem followed by a tour of the museum. Visit Mt. Herzl Military Cemetery, then continue to Mahanei Yehuda marketplace, to share in the spirit of preparing for Shabbat and forincredible falafel. Experience the essence of Shabbat in ultra orthodox Mea Shearim. Afternoon break, then proceed to the Southern Wall for a Special Kabbalat Shabbat service and visit to the Western Wall (B, D): JERUSALEM
Sat, Day 7
Enjoy a walking tour of the Old City. Proceed to the Tower of David museum. Continue on to the parapets of the Old City walls for a unique perspective of the inner city life. Afternoon at leisure (B, D): JERUSALEM
Sun, Day 8
Drive to Megiddo, where excavations uncovered more than 20 layers of different civilizations, then to Beit Alpha and Beit Shean. Continue to nature park Gan Hashlosha, for a picnic and swimming. Continue to Tiberias (B, D): TIBERIAS
Mon, Day 9
Early morning jeep ride. On to Safed and the beautiful artists' quarter and ancient synagogues. Enjoy the excitement of rafting on the Jordan River (weather permitting). Proceed to the kibbutz for an evening of home hospitality and a traditional kibbutz dinner (B, D): TIBERIAS
Tues, Day 10
Drive north to Rosh Hanikra and take the cable car down to the beautiful grottos. Proceed to Akko on the Mediterranean. Continue on to Haifa, stopping at Tzippori, Mt. Carmel, the Bahai Temple gardens. Proceed to the Druze village of Ussifiya for lunch. Travel along the Mediterranean coastal road into Tel Aviv (B, L, D): TEL AVIV
Wed, Day 11
In the morning, visit Old Jaffa, and beautiful artists' area. On to Latrun tank museum, and to Yad Mordechai. Continue on to Kibbutzim Hill and the Museum of the Haganah. Visit Tel Aviv's Diaspora Museum (B, D): TEL AVIV
Thur, Day 12
12 Day: Departure flight back to USA
16 Day: Day at leisure (B, D): TEL AVIV
Fri, Day 13
Fly to Eilat. Orientation tour and visit to Hai Bar Nature Reserve, and the Underwater Observatory (B, D): EILAT
Sat, Day 14
Cross the Israel/Egyptian border at Taba, and drive through the Sinai desert to Mt. Sinai, where the B'nai Mitzvah and families will participate in a special ten commandments re-consecration service and kiddush. Visit Saint Catherine's Monastery. On your return to Eilat, stop at a Bedouin camp for camel rides (B, D): EILAT
Sun, Day 15
B'nai Mitzvah children swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Reef. Then a private yacht cruise on the Red Sea, with lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Day rooms will be kept for your convenience until your flight to Tel Aviv (B, L)
Mon, Day 16
Departure flight to U.S.A.
